Our holiday cottage is ideally situated for those looking for a peaceful base for a self catering holiday in the Ambleside and Windermere area of the Lake District. The cottage is in a prime location without being isolated. It is a gentle 1-mile stroll away from pretty Troutbeck village where guests will find a post office, church and two traditional pubs. Ambleside is close to hand, as is Windermere.

Enjoy the ramble to Ambleside over the path at the rear of the cottage which runs through National Trust farmland and past the famous viewpoint of Jenkin Crag. Why not return by boat as far as the Lake District National Park Visitor Centre at Brockhole, and then follow the bridlepath back up to Cringlemire cottage? There are plenty of other walks close by, and of course all the visitor attractions are easily accessible by car. We are close to the the fabulous gardens of Holehird, home of the Lakeland Horticultural Society.
